SimAnt: The Electronic Ant Colony is a simulation strategy game developed and published by Maxis in 1991. Players lead a black ant colony, aiming to build, expand, and take over the entire backyard and house while driving out red ants and human residents. It features three modes: Quick Game, Full Game, and Experimental Game. In Quick Game, players compete with red ants for food and territory in a small area; Full Game requires gradual colony expansion to seize the whole yard and house; Experimental Game lets players run various tests to observe ants’ reactions to different environments and conditions. Players face multiple challenges like predatory spiders, antlions, heavy rain, and lawnmowers. By managing the colony wisely, players can experience the complexity of ant societies and their survival strategies.
