Leading Company is a strategy simulation game developed and published by Koei in 1992. Initially launched in Japan, it was available on platforms like the Super Famicom, NEC PC-9801, Sharp X68000, and FM Towns. The core goal is for players to research and sell advanced VHS VCRs in the Japanese market and build their own business empire. Players can start in the 1970s, when VCR technology was first being developed, or the 1980s, when VHS VCRs became widespread. It supports single-player mode and multiplayer mode for up to 4 players. During gameplay, players need to construct and manage company facilities, conduct R&D, launch new products, and adjust production and sales strategies based on market demand to maintain profitability. The game's music was composed by artists such as Yoshihisa Tomobe, Marc Soskin, and Kazumasa Mitsui, with jazz-style background music featured throughout. Since the game was only released in Japan and is entirely in Japanese, players with Japanese reading and writing skills can fully experience its content.
