R.C. Pro-Am II is an NES racing game developed by Rare and published by Tradewest in North America in December 1992. As the sequel to the 1988 title R.C. Pro-Am, it retains the core gameplay while adding more tracks, a diverse upgrade system, and brand-new bonus stages. Featuring an isometric perspective, players control remote-controlled cars to compete against three other racers across 24 distinct tracks. The tracks fall into three categories — standard, cityscape, and off-road — with progressively increasing difficulty. During races, players must avoid obstacles and traps such as puddles, bombs, mud, ice, and oil slicks to finish in the top three. In single-player mode, players race against three AI opponents; the multiplayer mode, a major highlight over the original, supports up to four players simultaneously. Prize money earned from races can be spent at the pre-race shop on car upgrades and weapons — including more powerful engines, better tires, missiles, bombs, and freeze beams — to boost performance and offensive capabilities. Additionally, letter collectibles are scattered across tracks; spelling out "PRO AM II" unlocks a faster, better-handling new car. The game also includes two bonus stages: tug-of-war and drag racing, which reward extra points and prize money upon completion. R.C. Pro-Am II has been widely praised for its rich track design, varied upgrade system, and multiplayer mode. While some critics noted its gameplay is similar to the predecessor, the addition of multiplayer has cemented it as one of the most acclaimed racing games on the NES platform.
