Battle Blaze is a 1992 2D fighting game developed by Aicom and Electronics Application Co. and published by Sammy Studios. Set in the medieval fantasy world of Virg, it lets players fight with weapons like swords, maces, and daggers across Arena and Adventure modes, with the goal of defeating the Dark Lord in the sky castle. In the story, Virg’s king is chosen via the "Champion Tournament," where every king is the strongest victor. But the hellish demon Autarch seeks world domination: he sends five ghosts to possess tournament contestants, making them slaughter each other. Only the warrior Durill avoids possession, but he falls to a mysterious illness after defeating the ghosts. His son Kerrell swears to avenge his father and defeat the evil demon. There are six playable characters: - **Kerrell**: The protagonist, wields a sword, vows to avenge his father and destroy the Dark Lord. - **Shnouzer**: Leader of mountain beasts, fearsome and skilled in close combat. - **Adrick**: A knight from Naxus, fights with the long sword "Dark Blade." - **Tesya**: An agile warrior from Fynn, expert with dual daggers. - **Lord Gustoff**: A half-orc who rules a peaceful farm village, uses a mace. - **Lang**: Kerrell’s twin brother with identical abilities, only available in Arena mode. The final boss is Autarch, a powerful demon with deadly claws who aims to kill all champions and conquer Virg. The Japanese cover was illustrated by Yasushi Torisawa, while the North American cover resembles the poster for the film *Conan the Barbarian*. Battle Blaze first launched in arcades in 1992, then was ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It released in Japan in 1992 and hit North America in January 1994.
