Zombies Ate My Neighbors is an action shooter developed by LucasArts and published by Konami in 1993, originally released for the SNES and Sega Genesis. It humorously pays tribute to classic horror films. Players take on the role of teen protagonists Zeke or Julie, saving neighbors and fighting evil forces in a community overrun by various monsters.
The game features 55 levels with diverse settings, including suburban backyards, shopping malls, and Egyptian tombs. Players must rescue a specific number of neighbors per level, such as cheerleaders, babies, and teachers, while using weapons like water guns, rocket launchers, and lawnmowers to battle enemies including zombies, mummies, vampires, and chainsaw maniacs. It supports single-player or two-player co-op mode, adding interactive fun.
