Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill is a side-scrolling platformer developed by Realtime Associates, starring Socks, the pet cat of former US President Bill Clinton. Set in Washington, D.C., players control Socks across multiple levels, defeating enemies like spies, politicians, and media figures, to return to the White House and warn the Clintons about stolen nuclear missile launch codes. The game is packed with political satire, with bosses being caricatures of former US presidents and political figures such as Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, and Ross Perot. Originally scheduled for release in 1993, the game was canceled after publisher Kaneko’s US division shut down. However, a prototype was discovered in 2011, and the game was successfully released via crowdfunding in 2018.
