Rise of the Robots is a 1994 fighting game developed by Mirage, released for multiple platforms including SNES. Set in 2043, the world’s largest robot maker Electrocorp builds the super-intelligent "Supervisor" to run its factories, but the EGO virus infects it, making it rebel, seize control of other robots, and threaten humanity. Players take on the role of cyborg ECO35-2, tasked with infiltrating the factory, defeating infected robots, and facing the Supervisor to restore order. It used cutting-edge pre-rendered 3D graphics for its time, with detailed character designs and smooth animations. It features single-player and two-player versus modes, letting players pick different robots to fight. Queen guitarist Brian May composed the soundtrack, giving the game a unique vibe. Though highly anticipated before launch, it received mixed reviews due to poor AI and an overly simplistic combat system.
