Magic Sword is a side-scrolling action game developed and published by Capcom. First released for arcades in 1990, it launched on the Super Famicom in Japan on May 29, 1992. Set in a medieval fantasy world, players control the hero Alan (1P protagonist) and team up with allies to climb the Dragon Tower and defeat the Dark Lord Drakmar. Players scale the tower floor by floor, defeat enemies, and rescue imprisoned companions, each with unique skills and weapons—like the female warrior’s crossbow, barbarian’s great axe, and mage’s magic missiles. Blending side-scrolling platforming and hack-and-slash combat, it delivers rich action gameplay. Players collect items and weapons by breaking chests or defeating foes to power up. The game’s challenge lies in strategically using allies’ abilities to tackle various enemies and traps.
