The Lost Vikings is a puzzle-platform game developed by Blizzard Entertainment (then known as Silicon & Synapse) in 1992 and published by Interplay Entertainment. First released for the SNES, it was later ported to Amiga, MS-DOS, Sega Mega Drive and other platforms.
The game follows three Viking warriors—Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout—who are abducted by aliens and embark on an adventure to return home. Each character has unique skills: Erik excels at dashing and jumping, Baleog masters sword and archery, while Olaf carries a sturdy shield for defense and as a platform. Players switch between the three, using their abilities to solve level puzzles and get all three to the exit.
With 37 cleverly designed, challenging levels, the game requires players to skillfully use each character’s strengths and coordinate closely to clear stages. It features vivid, fun graphics, great sound effects, and ingenious trap designs, making it highly popular among players.
Due to its success, a sequel, The Lost Vikings 2, was released in 1997, retaining the core gameplay while introducing new elements and challenges.
Overall, The Lost Vikings is a classic puzzle-platform game beloved for its unique gameplay and humorous style, and is still cherished by players today.
