F1 Pole Position 2 (known in Japan as Human Grand Prix 2) is a Formula 1 racing game developed by Human Entertainment for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), released in Japan on December 24, 1993. As the second entry in the Human Grand Prix series, it builds on its predecessor with new features and improvements.
Players can choose from three modes: World Grand Prix, which recreates the 1993 F1 season; Battle Mode, where you compete against up to 13 CPU opponents in a single race; and Time Attack for practice laps. The game also adds turn guide arrows to help players judge cornering pressure, a feature carried over to later series entries.
It includes real 1993 season teams and drivers, such as Damon Hill and Alain Prost of Williams, and Michael Schumacher and Riccardo Patrese of Benetton. However, three-time world champion Ayrton Senna is not included in the McLaren lineup, replaced by Michael Andretti and Mika Häkkinen.
Additionally, players can edit engine supplier contracts, driver rosters, and driver contracts. A hidden character, Satoru Nakajima, is also available and can be saved to one of two save files.
With realistic tracks, diverse game modes, and attention to racing details, F1 Pole Position 2 is one of the most popular racing games on the SNES platform.
