Cool Spot is a side-scrolling platform game developed and published by Virgin Games in 1993. It first launched on Mega Drive/Genesis and SNES, then was ported to Amiga, Game Boy, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, MS-DOS and more. The protagonist is the 7 Up mascot Cool Spot, a red dot character wearing sunglasses, gloves and sneakers. In the game, players control Cool Spot to adventure through levels, collecting enough "spots" to rescue trapped friends. Cool Spot can jump and attack enemies by throwing soda bubbles. Each level has a time limit, unique enemies and obstacles, boosting the challenge. The game features bright, colorful visuals and smooth character animations. Its soundtrack, composed by Tommy Tallarico and other musicians, earned positive feedback from players. Notably, regional versions differ. For example, the European release removed the 7 Up logo, replacing it with a generic soda bottle of similar colors to avoid direct association with the 7 Up brand. Cool Spot received positive reviews upon release, regarded as one of the most entertaining side-scrolling platformers of its era. Its success also led to the sequel *Spot Goes to Hollywood*.
