Breath of Fire is a classic role-playing game developed and published by Capcom. It first launched for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on April 3, 1993, and was later ported to platforms including the Game Boy Advance.
Players take on the role of Ryu, a young man with the ability to transform into a dragon. After his home is destroyed by the Black Dragon Clan, Ryu sets out on a journey to find allies, fight evil forces, and save the world. The game features a traditional turn-based battle system, where players level up characters, learn new skills, and collect equipment to grow stronger.
The development team included producer Tokuro Fujiwara, designers Yoshinori Takenaka and Yoshinori Kouno, and art director Keiji Inafune. The soundtrack was composed by Yasuaki Fujita, Mari Yamaguchi, Minae Fujii, Yoko Shimomura, and Tatsuya Nishimura, creating a rich, immersive atmosphere for the game.
Breath of Fire was a success upon its Japanese release, and earned mostly positive reviews when it launched in North America in 1994. Its success laid the groundwork for a long-running franchise, with multiple sequels released over the years, making it one of Capcom’s most well-known RPG series.
