Shirokuma Adventure (Japanese: Famicom Animal Ecology Encyclopedia! The Voluntary Polar Bear: Save the Forest Chapter) is an FC adventure game developed by Graphic Research and released by CBS Sony Group in Japan on December 15, 1989. Adapted from the manga and anime of the same name, it follows a group of forest animals, with a protagonist albino Japanese black bear often mistaken for a polar bear. Players progress through menu-driven adventure gameplay with a top-down perspective, a rare design for adventure games at the time that was more common in RPGs. Characters have stats like HP and IQ, with IQ playing a key role especially in the late game. Featuring retro-style graphics and the unique charm of FC game controls, this relatively simple title is a nostalgic pick worth trying for FC game fans.
