Urban Strike is a helicopter shooter game released by Electronic Arts in 1994, the third entry in the Strike series following Desert Strike and Jungle Strike. It first launched on Sega Genesis and was ported to SNES and other platforms in 1995. Set in 2001 (2006 in the SNES version), the plot follows media mogul and former presidential candidate H.R. Malone, who plots to overthrow the U.S. government with a superweapon. Players take on the role of an elite pilot, flying helicopters on a series of missions to stop Malone’s scheme. Players mainly pilot the Mohican helicopter to complete varied missions, including destroying enemy facilities, rescuing hostages, and capturing enemy personnel. The game adds new features: in certain levels, players must leave the helicopter for on-foot missions, using rifles and missile launchers to achieve objectives. It also offers other controllable vehicles like the Blackhawke helicopter and Ground Assault Vehicle (GAV), boosting gameplay variety and strategy. Loved by players for its rich mission design and diverse gameplay, Urban Strike uses an isometric perspective, blending action and strategy elements to deliver a tense, thrilling gaming experience.
