Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle is an action platformer starring the iconic literary character Tarzan. Released in 1994 for Game Boy and Game Gear, it was developed by Eurocom and published by GameTek.
Players take on the role of Tarzan to complete six distinct missions, such as curing a gorilla’s illness and rescuing forest friends from evil poachers who aim to capture wild animals and send them to zoos.
This 2D side-scrolling game has players traverse various levels, using weapons like spears, daggers, and arrows to fight enemies while avoiding traps and obstacles, and collecting required items for each level. Players can also climb vines and swim to cross different areas within levels, and must finish missions within the allotted time.
Additionally, a Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) version was originally planned, developed by Manley & Associates. However, the SNES version was canceled before release, and its prototype ROM was only discovered in October 2019.
Overall, Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle gives players the chance to step into Tarzan’s shoes, adventure through the African jungle, and experience the heroic deeds of this classic character.
