Super Bomberman 3 is an action game released by Hudson Soft in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). As the third entry in the Super Bomberman series, it launched in Japan and Europe but never released in North America due to the closure of Hudson Soft's U.S. branch.
The game retains the classic gameplay of its predecessors: players place bombs in maze-like levels to destroy obstacles and enemies and complete level objectives. Compared to prior entries, Super Bomberman 3 significantly improves multiplayer mode, supporting up to five players in simultaneous battles for the first time.
In terms of story, the villain Bagular pilots a flying saucer to a junkyard, recovers and repairs the five evil Bombers (Five Dastardly Bombers) defeated in the previous game, and leads them to invade the Bomber Nebula, seizing the main program chips of five of its planets. White Bomber and Black Bomber set out on a counterattack journey to reclaim the chips.
The game also introduces kangaroo-like creatures called Louies. Players can find eggs in certain bricks, which hatch into rideable Louies. Different colored Louies have unique abilities, such as high-speed dashing, jumping, kicking bricks, and kicking hard walls, and can take one hit for the player, greatly enriching the game's strategy and fun.
Overall, Super Bomberman 3 retains the series' classic gameplay while adding new characters and mechanics, boosting playability and diversity, and making it a beloved title on the SNES platform.
