Alfred Chicken is a side-scrolling platform game developed by Twilight and published by Mindscape. First released in 1993 for Amiga, Amiga CD32, Game Boy, and NES, it launched a Super NES version titled *Super Alfred Chicken* in February 1994.
Players control Alfred the chicken, navigating levels filled with quirky elements like balloons, telephones, and cheese. On the ground, Alfred can walk, jump, and peck balloons and floor switches; in the air, he can dive-bomb enemies or springs. Dive-bombing enemies defeats them, while diving on springs lets Alfred jump higher to reach upper platforms.
The goal is to find and peck all balloons; the last balloon leads to a boss fight. Alfred can grab power-ups: answering a hidden phone lets Mr. Pekles (a giant flower) give him jam that fires bouncing bombs to collect items and damage enemies; another power-up is a rotating worm that defeats enemies on contact.
Loved for its unique level design and challenging gameplay, Alfred Chicken is a classic side-scrolling platformer with retro art and humorous touches.
