Spectre is a 3D shooter developed by Peninsula Gameworks and published by Velocity Development in 1991. First released for Macintosh, it was later ported to MS-DOS, Windows, SNES and other platforms. Featuring vector graphics, players drive a red car or tank to battle enemy tanks on virtual battlefields. Each level’s goal is to collect ten flags or destroy all enemy tanks while avoiding obstacles and enemy fire. It supports single-player and multiplayer via AppleTalk, with selectable tank types varying in shields, speed and ammo. Difficulty rises as levels progress with more and faster enemies.
