Smart Ball is a side-scrolling platformer co-developed by Game Freak and System Sacom. Released in Japan in 1991 and later in North America, it’s known as *Jerry Boy* in Japanese. Players control Jerry, a prince turned into a blue jelly-like creature, on a quest to rescue kidnapped Princess Emi. Jerry can shapeshift to navigate terrain—stick to walls/ceilings, stretch to attack enemies—and use items like throwable balls, health boosts, and jump power-ups to beat 16 levels. Collect letters spelling "JERRY" for extra lives; each level has unique terrain and enemies for challenge and fun. The North American version cut story and town elements to focus on platforming, but its cute art and innovative gameplay won fans. Made by Game Freak (later famous for Pokémon), with music by Akira Yamaoka and others boosting atmosphere. Overall, it’s a creative, fun classic platformer for players who love challenge and exploration.
