Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge is a Super Nintendo (SNES) light gun shooter developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 1993. As the 1992 sequel to Battle Clash, it requires the Super Scope peripheral to play. Set three years after the first game, protagonist Mike Anderson pilots an upgraded Standing Tank (ST) codenamed Falcon, dueling new bosses and their STs one-on-one. Players act as Falcon’s gunner, using the Super Scope to target enemy ST weak points and block incoming attacks. It features four modes: Battle, Time Trial, Training, and Versus. Battle Mode is the single-player story campaign, where players defeat enemies to face returning emperor Anubis and the invading Eltorians. Time Trial challenges players to beat enemies as fast as possible. Training Mode has instructor Rola guide players through seven tutorial levels. In Versus Mode, one player controls Falcon with the Super Scope while another pilots an enemy ST via an SNES controller. Developed by Team Battle Clash—an internal Intelligent Systems group with Nintendo R&D1 staff who worked on Battle Clash—the game was directed by lead graphic designer Toshitaka Muramatsu, produced by Gunpei Yokoi, and scored by Yuka Tsujiyoko. Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge received generally positive reviews. Critics praised its polished gameplay, unique enemy strategies, varied modes, and overall improvements over its predecessor. However, some criticized the short single-player campaign, repetitive action, and high difficulty.
