Knight Rider is a 1988 NES racing game developed by Pack-In-Video and published by Acclaim Entertainment. Based on the hit TV series of the same name, it lets players take on the role of Michael Knight, driving the smart car K.I.T.T. to carry out crime-fighting missions across the U.S.
The game features 15 levels. Players start from Los Angeles, pass through cities like San Francisco, and finally return to Los Angeles. In each level, players must drive K.I.T.T. within a time limit, dodge enemy vehicles and obstacles, and use on-board weapons to eliminate enemies. K.I.T.T. has various upgrade options, including increased fuel capacity, shield strength, top speed, and initial weapon count.
There are two modes: Mission Mode and Drive Mode. In Mission Mode, players complete tasks like tracking enemies and destroying targets; in Drive Mode, they can freely cruise K.I.T.T. for pure driving fun.
Notably, the game does not include the show’s iconic theme song, which may disappoint some fans.
Overall, the NES version of Knight Rider delivers an unforgettable experience with its unique mechanics and faithful adaptation of the original series.
