NARC is an arcade shooter launched by Williams Electronics in 1988, later ported to NES by Rare. Known for its intense action and violence, players take on the role of cops Max Force or Hit Man to fight drug crime. Players progress through multiple levels, arresting or taking down drug dealers and crime bosses, with the final goal of defeating the mastermind "Mr. Big". Armed with automatic weapons and missile launchers, players can choose to shoot enemies directly or arrest them. Arresting enemies and seizing drugs and cash earn extra points at the end of each level. The NES version was released by Acclaim Entertainment in 1990. Although Nintendo required drug-related content to be removed, the game retained most of its violent and gory elements.
