Justice League Task Force is a fighting game developed and published by Sunsoft, released in 1995 for the Super Nintendo (SNES) and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The SNES version was co-developed by Blizzard Entertainment, while the Genesis version was made by Condor (later Blizzard North). Based on DC Comics’ Justice League, it lets players control heroes like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, The Flash, and Aquaman to battle Darkseid and his forces. The story follows Darkseid’s attack on Earth and destruction of a military base. Players pick a Justice League member to track down other heroes, only to find they’ve been replaced by robot clones. After defeating the clones, players fight villains Cheetah and Despero before facing Darkseid himself. Stages include Atlantis, Gotham City, the Flash Museum, and Metropolis, each tied to a specific character. While its premise and roster drew many DC Comics fans, it received generally negative reviews upon release. Critics panned its choppy animation, limited moves, and poor controls, finding special moves too hard to pull off, which hurt the fun. Overall, as a DC superhero fighting game, Justice League Task Force has strengths in its characters and story but failed to meet player expectations in gameplay and controls.
