The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy is a 1991 platform action game developed by Taito for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), adapted from the classic animated series *The Flintstones*. Released on August 7, 1992, players control Fred Flintstone on an adventure to rescue his pet Dino and Barney’s pet Hoppy. The story begins with Fred and Barney living peacefully in Bedrock, until Dr. Butler from the 30th century arrives and kidnaps both pets. Meanwhile, Fred’s alien friend Gazoo loses parts of his time machine due to Dr. Butler’s interference; only Fred can see Gazoo, while others are unaware of his presence. To save the pets and repair the time machine, Fred must traverse multiple levels, fight various enemies, and collect scattered time machine parts. The game features 2D side-scrolling gameplay, with Fred using a stone bat as his main weapon, plus pickups like stone axes and slingshots to attack enemies. It also includes a basketball minigame for extra fun. Diverse level designs, including underwater and ice stages, offer plenty of challenge. The graphics and music faithfully capture the cartoon’s style, making it a fan favorite.
