Jarinko Chie: Bakudan Musume no Shiawase Sagashi is a 1988 Konami graphic text adventure game released in Japan, adapted from the manga and anime of the same name. It follows 10-year-old Chie, who runs a family diner in Osaka. Her father is unemployed and her mother left home due to the hardship; Chie works hard to keep the diner afloat while trying to reconcile her parents. The game is mainly text-driven: players advance the plot by reading dialogue and descriptions, and complete minigames at key moments to unlock the next chapter. It uses traditional vertical Japanese text, read right-to-left, top-to-bottom. Since it was only released in Japan with no official translation, non-Japanese speakers may find it hard to follow the story.
