Castlevania (Japanese: Akumajō Dracula Mokushiroku) is an action-adventure game released by Konami on March 11, 1999. It marks the Castlevania series’ first 3D entry on the Nintendo 64 platform. Set in mid-19th century Transylvania, players choose between two protagonists: Reinhardt Schneider, a vampire hunter of Belmont lineage, or Carrie Belnades, a young sorceress from the Belnades clan, to battle the resurrected Count Dracula. The game features a day-night cycle and weather system that affect enemy strength and environmental effects. Additionally, there is a "vampirization" status: if the protagonist is bitten by a vampire and not purified before midnight, they turn into a vampire, resulting in a game over. The game also has multiple endings based on player progress and choices.
