Blackthorne is a side-scrolling action game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 1994. Initially released for the Super Nintendo (SNES) and DOS, it launched on Sega 32X in 1995 with enhanced graphics and colors, came to Mac OS in 1996, and arrived on Game Boy Advance in 2003.
Players take on the role of Kyle Blackthorne, a commando who returns to his homeland to avenge his father killed by an alien overlord. Set in the dark, dangerous world of Tuul, Kyle must navigate levels full of traps, enemies and puzzles to uncover the truth behind his father’s death.
With gameplay similar to *Prince of Persia*, players use various items, guns, bombs and other weapons to defeat enemies, save allies and activate mechanisms. Progress is saved via passwords.
Blackthorne became a beloved classic of its era thanks to its unique mechanics and gripping story.
