Akagawa Jiro: Majo-tachi no Suimin is a sound novel game adapted from the novel by renowned Japanese writer Jiro Akagawa, released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) on November 24, 1995. Developed by Victor Interactive Software (now Marvelous Entertainment Inc.), it features live-action backgrounds and multiple endings, creating a unique horror atmosphere. The game is split into two acts: Act 1, "Witches' Twilight," follows a murder case in a remote mountain village; Act 2, "Witch's Long Sleep," deepens the story. It also includes a hidden "Final Chapter." Players take on the role of an ordinary office worker who, after receiving a mysterious distress call, sets out to uncover the truth behind his first love's death. The game boasts excellent soundtrack that effectively builds a mysterious mood. Note that the SNES version cannot skip already-read text, which may impact gameplay experience. For interested players, the PlayStation remake "Majo-tachi no Suimin: Fukkatsu-sai" is recommended, as it adds new content and improves the overall experience.
