Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge is a light gun shooter developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. Released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), it is the sequel to the 1992 title Battle Clash and requires the Super Scope peripheral to play.
Set three years after the first game, the story follows protagonist Michael Anderson. After he defeats Emperor Anubis, peace seems assured—until Anubis returns, allied with the alien Eltorians, to conquer Earth again. Players take on the role of Mike’s gunner, piloting the standing tank ST Falcon, fighting one-on-one battles against enemy STs and bosses across the globe, and ultimately fending off Anubis and the Eltorian invasion.
The game features four modes: Battle Mode, Time Trial, Training Mode, and Versus Mode. In Battle Mode, players defeat a series of enemy STs and bosses; Time Trial challenges players to finish courses in the shortest time possible; Training Mode guides players through seven tutorial levels led by instructor Rola; in Versus Mode, one player controls the Falcon with the Super Scope, while another uses an SNES controller to operate an enemy ST.
During gameplay, players can use weapons like rapid fire, energy shots, and bombs, and collect special power-ups. The Falcon can store up to three energy charges to unleash a powerful triple shot. Each enemy ST has specific weak points; targeting these deals extra damage. Clearing the single-player mode unlocks the ST Tornado, piloted by Carol Eugene, which can hold up to ten energy shots but has lower defense.
Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge was praised for its detailed graphics, varied game modes, and improved mechanics. Its diversity and strategic depth make it a standout among Super Scope light gun games.
