World Heroes 2 is a 1993 fighting game developed and published by ADK (formerly Alpha Denshi), the second entry in the World Heroes series. It first launched on the Neo Geo MVS arcade platform on April 26, 1993, and was later ported to Neo Geo AES, Neo Geo CD, PC Engine Arcade CD-ROM², and Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). The game retains the core gameplay of its predecessor with a three-button layout: A for punch, B for kick, and C for throw or taunt. It adds six new characters, bringing the total roster to 14 playable fighters, many based on historical figures such as Hattori Hanzō and Joan of Arc. New mechanics like "throw reversal" and projectile reflection add depth to offensive and defensive strategies. In Normal Mode, players must defeat six new characters, four returning characters, and two bosses, Neo Geegus and Dio, in sequence. In Death Match mode, arenas feature hazards like mines and electric shocks, and both fighters share a single health bar that shifts between them. When health runs out, players must rapidly press buttons to stand back up before the countdown ends. The game performed well in Japanese and North American arcade markets, and was named one of the most successful arcade games of June 1993 by Game Machine. The SNES version was praised for its faithful port and diverse character roster. World Heroes 2 holds an important place in fighting game history, with its innovative systems and varied character designs delivering a unique gameplay experience.
