Silva Saga II: The Legend of Light and Darkness is a 1993 Super Nintendo RPG released in Japan by SETA, the second entry in the Silva Saga series that continues the original’s story and world. Set days before the first game’s ending, it follows an amnesiac protagonist on a quest to uncover their identity, rescue the prior hero Kyral the Light Warrior, and defeat the main villain Zolde. Its gameplay resembles the Dragon Quest series but adds unique mercenary and idol systems: players can recruit up to 4 mercenaries and 4 idols, and switch between the main party, mercenary team, and idol team in battle. Mercenaries excel at physical attack and defense but cannot use magic, while idols are strong at magic but weak physically—note that neither mercenary nor idol teams can be directly controlled by the player. Silva Saga II is the third entry in the Minelvaton series, following Minelvaton Saga: Ragon no Fukkatsu and Silva Saga. The series is set entirely in the shared world of Minelvaton, letting players revisit the same towns and dungeons across all three games. Though originally only released in Japan, fan translation group Dynamic-Designs launched an unofficial English translation patch on January 24, 2012, making this classic RPG accessible to English-speaking players.
