R.B.I. Baseball is a baseball sports game developed by Namco, originally titled Pro Baseball: Family Stadium, and released in Japan on December 10, 1986. In 1987, Atari Games launched the arcade version Vs. R.B.I. Baseball for the Nintendo VS. System in North America. In 1988, Tengen ported it to the North American NES platform under the name R.B.I. Baseball. It was the first console game licensed by the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), featuring real MLB player names. Since it lacked official MLB licensing, only city names were used instead of team names or logos. The game includes 8 teams representing the then-MLB division champions, plus two All-Star teams, featuring star players like George Brett and Mike Schmidt. With simple, intuitive controls, players can choose different pitch types as a pitcher or swing as a batter to experience authentic baseball gameplay.
