Rad Racer (Japanese: Highway Star) is a classic racing game developed and published by Square in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Players can choose to drive a Ferrari 328 or an F1 car across diverse tracks, including Los Angeles night roads, San Francisco highways, and the Grand Canyon. It used advanced graphics of the era, such as raster and vertical scrolling, to smoothly render curved and undulating tracks, boosting driving realism. The game also supports a 3D mode, where players can enjoy stereoscopic effects with 3D glasses. Praised for its smooth controls and innovative design, Rad Racer is one of the most acclaimed racing games on the NES platform.
