Pop'n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures is a side-scrolling action game released by Konami in 1994 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. As the 7th entry in the TwinBee series, it marks the franchise's first shift from vertical shoot-'em-up to action platformer.
Players can choose from three playable characters: TwinBee, WinBee, or GwinBee, each with unique weapons and skills. TwinBee wields a hammer, WinBee uses a lasso, and GwinBee throws rattles. All characters can charge a punch to unleash shockwave attacks, and are equipped with rechargeable rocket packs for short 8-directional flight or hovering.
The main goal is to stop the evil Dr. Warmon, who plans to enslave the residents of the Dunburi Islands. Players collect colored bells for power-ups: blue bells grant laser attacks, orange bells unlock lasso attacks, and more. Unlike previous series entries, bells are obtained by defeating enemies instead of shooting clouds.
The game features multiple levels, some with hidden exits similar to Super Mario World. The Japanese version has a web-like level structure with branching paths, while the European version uses a linear level order that must be completed sequentially.
It also includes a versus mode where players compete in three rounds for victory.
Beloved for its cute character designs, rich gameplay mechanics, and varied level design, Pop'n TwinBee: Rainbow Bell Adventures is a cherished action title on the SNES.
