Michael Andretti's World GP is an NES racing game developed by Human Entertainment and published by American Sammy. First released in Japan in 1988 as *Nakajima Satoru F-1 Hero*, it launched in North America in 1990. Featuring American IndyCar driver Michael Andretti, the game lets players drive four distinct cars across 16 faithfully recreated international Grand Prix tracks, including Brazil, San Marino, Monaco, Mexico, Canada, the U.S., France, the UK, West Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Japan, and Australia. Unlike most arcade-style racing games of the era, it leans into simulation gameplay: players must shift manually and adjust speed based on track conditions. A tire wear system requires at least one pit stop for tire changes to stay competitive. It supports single-player and two-player modes. In single-player, players can practice on any track with five laps per session, and lap times are recorded. In two-player mode, users race against another player or the CPU, with customizable lap counts from 1 to 10. Notably, cars never collide directly—all vehicles act as "ghosts" that cannot interfere with or block each other. There is no background music during races; only short looping tracks play on menus and other screens. Overall, Michael Andretti's World GP delivers a unique racing experience with its realistic track recreations and simulation-style gameplay.
