Michael Andretti's Indy Car Challenge is an arcade-style racing game developed by Genki and published by Bullet-Proof Software. It was released exclusively for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in North America and Japan in 1994. Named after legendary IndyCar driver Michael Andretti, the game lets players experience IndyCar racing, then known as CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams). The game features multiple modes, including single race, season mode, and an option to toggle sound effects and music. The season mode includes 16 tracks, with support for single-player or two-player split-screen races against friends. Before each race, players can adjust tire pressure, downforce, and gear ratios. Higher tire pressure reduces road grip but boosts acceleration and top speed; increased downforce has the opposite effect. Higher gear ratios raise top speed but lower acceleration. Each track includes a "Michael's Tips" section with track-specific hints and tricks. Loosely based on the 1994 CART World Series season, the game uses a third-person perspective for races. It boasts strong graphics and sound, delivering a realistic sense of speed and detailed recreations of real-world tracks. However, the inability to collide with other cars takes some drama out of races. Overall, Michael Andretti's Indy Car Challenge is a solidly designed racing game, perfect for fans of IndyCar and arcade-style racing titles.
