FIFA International Soccer is a football simulation game developed by EA Canada's Extended Play Productions and released in December 1993. First launched on the Sega Mega Drive, it was later ported to platforms like the SNES, Amiga, MS-DOS, and Game Boy. As the first entry in the FIFA series, it uses an isometric perspective—unlike the top-down or side views common in other football games of the era—delivering a more realistic match experience. The game features 48 national teams, with modes including exhibition, tournament, penalty shootout, and league cup. Notably, it does not use real player names. Upon release, it received widespread acclaim, particularly for its detailed player animations and realistic crowd sound effects. The Mega Drive version performed exceptionally well in the UK market, becoming one of the best-selling home video games of 1993.
