F-1 World Grand Prix is a racing simulation game developed by Paradigm Entertainment and published by Video System. First released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, it was later ported to Dreamcast, PlayStation, Game Boy Color, and Windows. Based on the 1997 F1 season, it features 17 tracks and 22 drivers (including two unlockable hidden drivers). Due to licensing issues, champion Jacques Villeneuve is not included and is replaced by "Williams Driver", whose name players can edit.
The game offers five modes:
- **Grand Prix**: Simulates the full 1997 season.
- **Exhibition**: Single race play.
- **Time Trial**: Challenge for the fastest lap.
- **Challenge**: Relive classic 1997 season moments, such as playing as Damon Hill competing for the title at the Hungarian Grand Prix, or as David Coulthard beating Jean Alesi at the Italian Grand Prix.
- **2 Player**: Split-screen head-to-head racing for two players.
Before races, players can tune their car, including tire type, fuel load, and wing angle. The game also simulates weather changes and their impact on races, boosting realism.
Praised for its excellent graphics and realistic driving experience, F-1 World Grand Prix is regarded as one of the best F1 racing simulators of its era.
