Euro Football Champ is an arcade soccer game launched by Japanese developer Taito in 1990, and ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1992. It stood out among soccer games of its era with unique gameplay and rich action design. Players can pick one of 8 national teams: Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, each with a star player. You need to battle through 7 matches to claim the final victory. This game is known for its exaggerated moves and intense match style. Players can disrupt opponents with punches, flying kicks and jersey pulls — these actions go unpunished if done out of the referee’s sight. The referee issues a yellow card for every foul, and red cards are given at the 3rd, 7th and 11th cumulative fouls. It also features a "Super Shot" mechanic. When 30 seconds or less remain on the clock, and the score is tied or you trail by one goal, your selected star player can unleash a powerful shot that blasts the goalkeeper straight into the stands, adding extra drama to matches. Euro Football Champ was a remarkable hit in arcade games back then, and has become a fond memory for many players thanks to its one-of-a-kind mechanics and rich action design.
