DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's Daring Adventure is a side-scrolling action platformer developed by Hudson Soft and released for the Super Famicom in 1996. As a sequel to the 1986 NES title Milon's Secret Castle, it retains the original world and characters. It launched in Japan on March 22, 1996, and was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in North America and Europe in 2008 as an unlocalized Japanese version. The game follows young boy Milon, whose hometown of Piccolo Village lies in a fantasy forest. One day, the forest's music and songs vanish, and the evil wizard Amon appears, kidnapping fairy Alice. To save his friend and restore the forest's music, Milon sets out to collect five legendary instruments guarded by Amon's minions, purifying the corrupted instruments by gathering stars. Players control Milon across multiple themed worlds, each with several levels leading to challenging bosses. Milon's main attack is a bubble gun that traps enemies in bubbles to knock them away; he can also jump on foes to stun them briefly. His health is shown by his outfit color: green for full health, blue after one hit, red after two, and a fourth hit costs a life. Players earn extra lives by collecting music notes and find items like bubble gum (prevents falling into pits) and special bubble guns (fire multiple bubbles at once). Praised for its beautiful graphics, smooth animation, and rich level design, DoReMi Fantasy also stands out for its unique audio—some levels use ambient sounds instead of background music to boost atmosphere. Though initially only released in Japan, its high quality has made it a classic among platformer fans.
