Cyborg 009 is a side-scrolling action game released by BEC on February 24, 1994, for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Adapted from Shotaro Ishinomori’s manga and anime series of the same name, it follows nine young cyborg warriors who fight the evil Black Ghost organization and use their unique powers to protect world peace. Players pick 3 out of 8 cyborgs to form a team, each with distinct abilities: 002 can fly and hover, 003 has night vision, 004 fires bullets from fingers and has knee rockets, 005 has super strength to smash rocks, 006 breathes fire to melt obstacles, 007 can shapeshift into enemies, 008 excels underwater, and 009 has super speed. Before each level, players choose a leader and two teammates, and can switch between the three anytime. All characters share HP and SP; special ability points, which regenerate slowly over time. The game features multiple levels where players use each character’s skills to solve puzzles, defeat enemies, and complete missions. With its diverse character abilities and faithful adaptation of the original story, Cyborg 009 has attracted many players and become a classic action game worth playing on the SNES platform.
