The Blue Crystalrod is a Super Famicom game released by Namco in Japan on March 25, 1994. It is the fourth entry in The Tower of Druaga series, serving as the official third chapter, as The Quest of Ki is counted as "Chapter 0" prequel. A first-person dungeon-crawling action RPG similar to Shining in the Darkness or Shin Megami Tensei, it follows Prince Gilgamesh and Princess Kai, who follow the goddess Ishtar’s orders to return the Blue Crystalrod to the heavens. The game starts in the town of Babirim, surrounded by dense forests, steep mountains and deadly deserts. It uses a pseudo-3D perspective where players always face north, with directional arrows showing available paths to navigate mazes filled with shrines, labyrinths and classic Druaga enemies like slimes, warriors and deadly ropes.
