True Lies is an action game developed by Beam Software and published by Acclaim Entertainment, released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995. It is adapted from the 1994 film of the same name directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Players take on the role of protagonist Harry Tasker, a man who appears to be a computer salesman but is actually a top agent for the government secret agency Omega Sector. The game uses a top-down perspective. Players must fight the terrorist group "Crimson Jihad" across various levels, stopping them from threatening the United States with nuclear warheads stolen from the former Soviet Union. At the start of each level, players are only equipped with a 15-round pistol. While ammo is unlimited, its firepower is weak. By exploring levels, players can obtain more powerful weapons like machine guns and shotguns, as well as auxiliary items such as grenades, to boost their combat effectiveness. The game has high difficulty. Enemies have strong firepower and are armed with heavy weapons like grenade launchers and rocket launchers, which can deal fatal damage to players. Additionally, levels feature environmental traps such as speeding trains, nail boards in factories, flames in natural gas pipelines, and densely placed mines, further increasing the challenge. The game's sound effects and music are excellent. Gunfire sounds realistic, paired with tough background music that creates a tense and exciting gaming atmosphere. Overall, True Lies is a highly challenging action game that stays true to the film's plot, making it suitable for players who enjoy action-adventure games.
