Super Troll Islands is a 2D platform puzzle game developed by Millennium Interactive and published by ASC Games in North America and Europe, based on the cute bald troll doll image. It was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994.
In the game, an evil overlord uses the powers of fire, water, earth and air to plunge Troll Islands into darkness. Players control four magical trolls to travel through various levels and restore light and color to the islands. Each level is initially covered by animated "mist". Players clear large rectangular mist patches by running on platforms and ladders in the correct order, gradually revealing brightly colored backgrounds.
The core gameplay is similar to Q*bert: players need to "paint" the ground by walking to complete each level. Unpainted areas appear monochrome, and as players move, background details and foreground platforms are gradually filled with color. Players can also pick up and throw items to defeat enemies.
