Arithmetic Grade 1 - Calculation Game (Japanese: Keisan Game Sansuu 1 Nen) is an educational game released by Tokyo Shoseki on April 25, 1986 for the Nintendo Family Computer. It helps first graders learn basic addition and subtraction.
The game has four modes for addition and subtraction practice. In each mode, players solve on-screen math problems to complete mini-games. Though educational, players can only make 5 mistakes before the game ends.
As the first title in the "Calculation Game" series, it laid the groundwork for later entries like Arithmetic Grade 2 and Grade 3. The series focuses on elementary math basics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions.
By combining math practice with gameplay, Tokyo Shoseki aims to boost students' interest in math and offer a fun way to reinforce classroom learning.
