Mega Man X2, known as Rockman X2 in Japan, is an action platform game developed and published by Capcom for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on December 16, 1994. It is the second installment in the Mega Man X series. The game uses Capcom's proprietary Cx4 DSP chip, which greatly enhances graphical performance and enables smoother animations for large bosses.
Set six months after the events of the first game, the story follows protagonist X. After X defeats Sigma, peace does not return to the world—instead, a new threat emerges. A group calling themselves the "Counter Hunters" confronts X, claiming they possess parts of Zero's body. They challenge X to defeat eight rebellious Reploids. To save his friend, X embarks on a new battle journey.
In terms of gameplay, X's dash ability is a default skill in this installment, no longer requiring foot parts to unlock. Additionally, the game introduces the "Ride Chaser" vehicle, a motorcycle-like tool with two speed settings and a front-mounted small cannon for rapid-fire attacks.
Mega Man X2 features enriched story and improved gameplay, making it one of the most beloved entries in the series among players.
