Plok! is a side-scrolling action game developed by UK-based Software Creations and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. The protagonist Plok, king of Akrillic Island, sets off on an adventure after his flag is stolen, battling the Flea Queen and other enemies trying to usurp his power along the way. The game features two difficulty modes, "Normal" and "Kids", with a total of four adventure areas and 37 levels. Players can collect the letters P-L-O-K to earn extra "Plokontinues", and unlock "Permanent Continue Positions" in specific levels, allowing them to resume from these points even after restarting the game. Plok's unique ability is using his limbs (both hands and feet) as thrown weapons to attack enemies. If a throw hits, the limb returns instantly; if it misses, it takes time to come back. Additionally, there are various power-ups in the game, such as the "Speed Blade" which boosts movement speed and defeats enemies for a short time, and special costumes that enhance attack power. The game's soundtrack, composed by brothers Tim and Geoff Follin, blends rock elements and has been widely praised. Although Plok! did not achieve the expected commercial success upon release due to the large number of similar platform games on the market, its innovative gameplay mechanics and rich level design have made it a classic among retro game enthusiasts.
