The Wing of Madoola (Japanese: Madūra no Tsubasa) is an action-adventure game developed and published by Sunsoft for the Famicom in Japan on December 18, 1986. Set in the Kingdom of Badam, the story revolves around a legendary bird-shaped statue called the Wing of Madoola, said to grant its holder the power to rule the world. Fierce wars erupt between nations over this sacred artifact. Players take on the role of Lucia, a female warrior, who embarks on a quest to find the Wing of Madoola, defeat the evil king Darutos, and save the kingdom from peril. The game features side-scrolling gameplay across 16 levels. Players must defeat enemies and collect items to enhance Lucia’s abilities, while using various magical skills to overcome challenges. The game boasts vibrant visuals; though somewhat muddled given the technical limitations of the era, its overall style retains a charming, approachable feel. In 2024, Sunsoft released the retro game compilation *Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection*, which includes three classic titles: The Wing of Madoola, Tokaido Gojusan Tsugi, and Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic. For the first time, the collection features English translations, allowing players worldwide to experience these iconic 1980s games.
