Chacha Maru's Demon Attack: Phantom Golden Demon Castle is an action RPG released by Jaleco in 1990 for the Nintendo NES. Blending action and RPG elements with gameplay similar to *The Legend of Zelda*, it uses screen-by-screen top-down map transitions. Players control ninja Chacha Maru, who attacks enemies with an extendable weapon and can equip spirit arts for combat. Chacha Maru has no level system, but defeating bosses grants advanced spirit arts and items to boost stats. The story follows an injured samurai who arrives at the ninja village, reporting the castle was attacked by unknown monsters, the lord and princess abducted, and the legendary "Great Demon Beast" may be resurrected. To stop this, Chacha Maru sets out with the "Ninbutsu Mandala" entrusted by the lord and the village's "Ninja Weights" to collect 8 spirit arts scattered across the land.
