Mad City is an action game for the FC/NES platform released by Konami on August 12, 1988. It follows protagonist Billy West on an adventure to rescue his girlfriend Annabelle Lane from the gang leader Father Gordon. The game has nine levels across multiple genres. Five are side-scrolling beat-'em-up stages where players fight enemies up close with fists, feet, and weapons. There are also two light gun shooting levels playable with the NES Zapper or controller, testing shooting skills. The remaining two driving stages have players steer a jeep on rural roads, dodging obstacles and attacking enemy vehicles and helicopters. With varied gameplay and challenging level design, Mad City is one of the most beloved classic games on the NES platform.
